OIT has entered into a licensing agreement with CBT Nuggets to offer professional training for IT skills and certifications.
OIT is offering course vouchers at a price of $100 per course. A voucher will give one user access to any single course for a period of six months. These courses include practice exams for certifications, where applicable.
To purchase course vouchers, first browse the CBT Nuggets website and determine which course(s) you’d like to take. Then, visit software.duke.edu and order the voucher(s), specifying which course(s) you’d like to take.
The normal cost of CBT Nuggets (directly through the vendor) is $84 per month per user for unlimited training, and this is a better option for users that plan to take multiple courses or for short-term access to short courses that can be completed in only a few hours. Courses vary significantly in length.
Some departments at Duke had group licenses for CBT Nuggets in the past, but they discontinued that licensing model. When we were researching this product, we found that most individuals do not complete more than one course over a period of multiple months with the subscription model. This licensing model allows individuals and teams to purchase access to courses as-needed, and still comes out significantly less expensive than in-person training.
