Microsoft SQL Server Added to Campus Agreement

We are pleased to announce the addition of the Microsoft SQL Server product family to Duke’s campus agreement with Microsoft as of June 27, 2012.  The software is being funded jointly by OIT, DHTS, and DCRI and is being distributed through OIT Software Licensing at no cost.

The agreement includes the server software and CALs for all Duke devices and users.  All volume-licensed editions of SQL Server 2012 and SQL Server 2008 are included in the agreement and are being distributed at http://oit.duke.edu/software.  SQL Server 2005 is available as well, and versions of this edition will be made available as requested.

This software is only distributed to Duke IT staff members and Duke faculty and staff with written approval from their IT departments.  All requests from DHTS employees will require an additional layer of authorization that will be handled when the requests are made.

All SQL Server software distributed through OIT will be in the unmodified format distributed by Microsoft.  Most software is in .ISO format, but core edition software may be distributed in .IMG format, and SQL Server 2005 may be available only as .EXE.  No technical support is included in the campus agreement or provided by OIT.
