With the release of System Center 2012, Microsoft has changed its licensing model. For our purposes, there are two main changes:
- The names of some of the products have changed
- The right to run Management Server software is included with Datacenter (unlimited virtualization) Server MLs and Client MLs, and all System Center 2012 products include the right to run a runtime version of SQL Server Technology to support System Center.
Included in the Microsoft Campus Agreement are Server MLs and Client MLs for all Duke managed Operating System Environments (OSEs). This includes the following software to manage all Duke OSEs:
- Operations Manager
- Configuration Manager
- Data Protection Manager
- Service Manager
- Virtual Machine Manager
- Endpoint Protection
- Orchestrator
- App Controller
- SQL Server 2008 R2 (for use with System Center only)
This is IT/Operational server software and will only be distributed to Duke IT Staff or faculty/staff members with written approval from their IT departments. This software is distributed at no cost under the Microsoft Campus Agreement, which is funded jointly by OIT and DHTS.
