The Law School has purchased a campus license for JRB Utils, and it is being distributed through the OIT Software website at no cost to Duke faculty and staff who are Active Directory administrators. JRB Utils V4.0 comprises 45 utilities for managing Active Directory and the Windows file system. The programs can be viewed here.
The software is a set of Windows executables, both command line and graphical, that are very helpful in routine Active Directory tasks. Some of the common uses of the software are:
- Take a text list of security groups and add a list of members to each
- Alter permissions on a large group of directories or file shares
- Create user objects from simple CSV data files
This software is only useful for people who have some administrative access to Active Directory. You can download the software here: https://oit.duke.edu/comp-print/software/license/detail.php?id=138
