A new release of Stata was announced today. Stata 12 will begin shipping
on July 25. There are many new and exciting features in this release,
which you can see online at
As was the case with Stata 11, every copy of Stata 12 will include PDF
documentation. Printed manuals will continue to be available, but they
will not be held as GradPlan stock. If individuals want to purchase
printed manuals, they can purchase them directly from StataCorp.
Statacorp will again be offering a substantial discount (50% off) on printed
manuals if they are purchased at the same time as the software. Rather
than the normal price of $595, they will be $295 if purchased when the
software is purchased.
What is involved with the new release and the Campus pickup GradPlan?
Until Stata 12 starts shipping, users will pay Stata 12 GradPlan prices
plus a shipping charge. They can pick up Stata 11 from OIT now, and Statacorp
will ship their Stata 12 materials, when available, directly to them
from their offices. This does NOT apply to customers who purchase
six-month licenses. They will have the option to purchase and pick up
Stata 11 now or purchase Stata 12 and wait for stock to become
available.
IMPORTANT: Students and faculty need to call Stata’s sales department
(800-782-8272) to place these orders. If they do not want
Stata 11 now and can wait until Stata 12 ships, they can
place their orders online.
For folks that have purchased Stata 11 and have not yet picked up their DVDs, they will only be available at the OIT Service Desk – The Link for pick up until Stata 12 comes out.
Statacorp realizes that there have been recent Stata 11 purchases by faculty,
students, and staff at Duke. They will offer the following for such users:
1. Those who purchased a copy of Stata 11 in April, May, or June 2011
can upgrade to Stata 12 for just the cost of shipping. For those who
purchased annual licenses, they may upgrade to Stata 12 for just the
cost of shipping, but their expiration date will remain the same. This
offer does NOT apply to customers who purchased six-month licenses.
Users will need to contact Statacorp directly with these requests and they
will ship all upgrades directly to the users from their offices.
2. Those who purchased a copy of Stata 11 before April 2011 will need
to purchase at the Stata 12 GradPlan purchase price.
