Biography

My name is Rachel Collins, and I am a member of the Duke Class of 2026! I am double-majoring in Public Policy Studies and Spanish Studies with a minor in Computer Science (yes, this was difficult to explain to my parents). I hope to go to law school after completing my undergraduate studies, but I am open to all opportunities after that!

This summer, I completed my Brodhead Service Project with the Eastern District of North Carolina Federal Public Defender’s Office in Raleigh (FPD). I assisted attorneys with cases for North Carolina residents charged with federal crimes who could not afford to pay for a defense attorney. Due to my background with Spanish, I mostly helped attorneys with clients who spoke little English. My duties included translations, annotating jail calls, creating visual representations of evidence, and attending meetings with clients.
