Pre-Health Check-Up: THIS Saturday, 9/10 11-12:30pm at Duke Children’s Hospital Lobby

This is an event geared toward any pre-health students that will feature of panel of health professionals who will answer questions about their respective careers. Our sponsor, Rosie Canizares, will be speaking at this! Meet at 10:40 at the Davison Building if you aren’t sure how to get to the Children’s Hospital from campus.

First General Body Meeting: Tuesday, 9/13 6:30pm in Wilson 018
We’re excited to meet you all! Grab some dinner and head to Wilson Gym for our first meeting as a pre-PT association for an overview of the PT field, and to help us brainstorm some of the great ideas you have for this coming year. Open to everyone- all current members and those interested in PT!

Come join this run/walk as we support the Duke DPT students in this fun event. We are thinking of volunteering or walking together as a group to help out with this if you all are interested!

 

Duke DPT Info Session: Tuesday, 10/18 5:30pm at Erwin Square

Join us as we hear from some faculty and students at the Duke DPT school about the admissions process and Duke’s DPT program. More details coming on that one.

NC Therapeutic Riding Center

Check out their website (http://www.nctrcriders.org) for more information, but here’s a little blurb:

NCTRC exists to empower children and adults with physical, emotional, mental and social
challenges to create active, healthier, and more fulfilling lives through equine-assisted
activities and therapies (EAAT).

For those who are interested in assisting with riding classes, we offer volunteer
orientations before the start of each of 6-10 week session. Lesson volunteers work
directly with our riders and horses in class. Responsibilities include:
* helping in the arena as horse leaders and sidewalkers
* providing horse care, and
* doing barn chores.

Volunteer with Children this Summer

If you’ll be in the area this summer and are looking for something to do that’s a very small time commitment, consider volunteering at Abilitations. Abilitations is a Children’s Therapy and Wellness Center in Raleigh, and they do some really cool things with kids. Check out their website:  http://www.actwc.com/index.html.

They are looking for volunteers to help out with their summer musical. The dates are June 11-July 16th on Fridays only from 12:30-1:30. If you’re interested, email T.R. Goins- her email is on the website.
