Dr. Cebca Taub: It’s really hard to figure out plans for these patients when they’re coming from so far away. They may or may not have an OBGYN in their home state. They may or may not have an OBGYN who they can tell that they were with us, so sometimes, people have a doctor but they say “I can’t tell my doctor that I was here”. And so trying to figure out how we can take care of those people and what the right plan is for them. We’re operating with what I’d say with much more of a harm reduction mindset than we sometimes do for our patients in California because it’s harder to figure out what the most optimal plan is when people are traveling from so many states away, have such low access to care and can’t always be honest with their medical providers because of the stigma and potential criminalization that they face in their home state.
