Dr. Beverly Gray: So there’s the 72-hour piece that’s still a huge frustration and logistical nightmare. Then having to send patients out of state when they’re beyond 12 [weeks] and 6 [days], really working hard to get them in on time. You’re facing the 72-hour waiting period but also the gestational age ban. Those two things seem counterintuitive, right? You have someone close to the deadline, but they have to wait 72 hours. It’s hard for people. I think we’re seeing a lot more cases of teenagers who are victims of sexual violence. Previously, those patients didn’t have to declare that they had experienced sexual violence, but now they’re required to if they’re beyond 12 weeks and 6 days in order to meet that exception. I’ve gotten to know the pre-op area of the pediatric part of the hospital very well, which is very sad to me, that I have to go there often enough to care for a patient that I know the staff there. That’s a difference this year compared to last year.
