Should I fast beforehand?
Fasting is not needed.
Instead, please eat and be well hydrated.
How long does it take to enroll?
The entire enrollment process takes about an hour.
Where can I participate?
Fire departments are hosting events across N.C.

Will my department see any of my information?
No. The NC Firefighter Cancer Cohort Study is committed to protecting your privacy. Your survey answers and biological specimen results are confidential and will not be shared with your employer or union.
What benefits can I expect by participating?
While the data collected may not have an immediate benefit to you, your participation can help identify exposures that may contribute to understanding the increased cancer risks among firefighters.
Can I still participate if I plan to retire in a few years?
Yes! The NC FFCCS will contact you at the email address and phone number you use when you sign up.
Will I find out any results after enrollment?
You will receive an individualized report of your PFAS levels.
