We received a call on our concussion hotline from a mother who was very concerned about her child. She thought he might have a concussion and wanted him to be evaluated as soon as possible by our concussion clinic here at CFPSM. Because her child has Medicaid insurance, we needed a referral from the PCP’s office before we could schedule. I think we all know how long that can take sometimes, so I reached out to Growing Child Pediatrics via phone call immediately after getting off the phone with mom.
I was transferred to the referrals department and spoke to Elba who was not only super helpful, but very kind and friendly. She got the referral placed correctly and sent me an InBasket message (to the correct pool without me even telling her) within 2 hours.
As a result of her quick action, helpful spirit and great attitude, we were able to get the patient scheduled to be seen THAT AFTERNOON by one of our top notch Concussion Specialists. The mother was surprised, extremely grateful and so relieved to be able to be seen so quickly.
