Diane Davis, PA-C, Vice Chief of Clinical Services, Associate Medical Director

You Make It Look Easy!

Nominated by Crystal Gary
Too often, the quiet heroes among us come to work each day, give their very best, and go above and beyond for their patients—without expecting recognition.

Working in community health is a deeply humbling experience. Each day brings an opportunity to touch lives, to ease someone’s burden, and to make a difference that may never make headlines but changes a person’s world in the most meaningful way. The patients we serve may not have great wealth, but they give us something far more valuable—gratitude, trust, and the reminder that compassion still matters. A heartfelt smile, a genuine thank-you, a caring handshake, or a family referral—these simple gestures reflect the impact of what we do.

For 22 years, Diane Davis has embodied the very essence of that mission. From the moment the Family Medicine and Community Health Clinics opened their doors, Diane has been there—leading, mentoring, and still caring directly for patients. She wears many hats with grace and strength: a clinician, a leader, an advocate, and above all, a voice for those who often go unheard. Diane’s commitment to the Community Health Clinics is more than a career—it’s a calling. Her advocacy for patients’ rights, her unwavering compassion, and her deep belief in equitable care inspire everyone who has the privilege of working beside her.

Diane would never seek recognition; she simply considers it her job. But her dedication deserves to be celebrated. It’s not every day you encounter someone who continues to serve with such passion, humility, and heart. I am incredibly fortunate to work with Diane—not only as a colleague but as my leader and role model.

On behalf of all of us with the Division of Community Health Micro-Clinics at Duke, thank you, Diane, for 22 years of unwavering service, advocacy, and commitment to improving the health and lives of patients in Durham and beyond. Your impact will be felt for generations to come. I am excited to continue to absorb all of your knowledge about the community health clinics so that when you retire in 20 years, I will be able to continue the journey.
