Dr. Nash is a provider that goes above and beyond for his nurses and patients. From inserting IVs to assisting with basic patient care, he never hesitates to step in wherever he is needed. Although, he is not staffed at Duke Raleigh’s ED full time, he regularly picks up shifts to support our team. He truly values nurses’ input and collaborates with all staff to create positive, respectful work environment. In addition to his teamwork, he is also incredibly knowledgeable and clinically skilled. As a nurse, I feel confident knowing if he is caring for my patients, they are in excellent hands and will receive the best possible care.
How has this employee demonstrated one or more of Duke’s shared values of respect, trust, inclusion, discovery and excellence?
Dr. Nash consistently demonstrates Duke’s values of respect, trust, inclusion, and excellence in his daily practice. He treats every member of the team with respect and actively seeks out nurses’ perspectives, fostering a culture of trust and collaboration. He creates an inclusive environment where all voices are heard and valued, which greatly strengthens team dynamics and patient care. What truly sets Dr. Nash apart is his commitment to patient advocacy and hands on care. I have personally walked into a room to find that he had already placed an IV, drawn all the ordered labs, and spoke with me to ensure this patient got treated for his pain in a timely manner. In another instance, when a patient was uncomfortable due to the placement of their IV, he took the initiative to replace the IV himself to promote comfort- something that could have easily been overlooked in a busy environment. His commitment to excellence is evident in both his clinical decision making and his willingness to step in and help wherever needed, regardless of the role. He leads by example, not only through his knowledge and skill but through humility, teamwork, and dedication to providing the highest quality care for patients. Dr. Nash makes a meaningful difference for both his patients and colleagues everyday.
