2021-2022 Board

President: Adam Golden

Adam Golden is originally from Mars, PA and went to undergrad at UNC Chapel Hill.  Prior to law school, Adam was a high school math teacher, a fiscal analyst in the Arizona legislature, and a legislative assistant to Rep. Lloyd Doggett.  This past summer, he was a the New Hampshire Public Defender.  In his free time, Adam likes getting outdoors and hanging with friends.

External Vice President: Maia Foster

Maia Foster is originally from Nashville, TN but also calls Vienna, VA home. She graduated from the University of Virginia in 2017 and worked for two years at a bipartisan climate change think tank in Washington, D.C. Maia is dedicated to a career in environmental and climate change law. She enjoys live music and looks forward to attending concerts of all genres again someday.

Internal Vice President: Sean Berman

Sean Berman is originally from Henderson, NV and went to undergrad at Georgetown University.  Sean interned at the U.S. Department of Justice after his 1L year and previously worked on a congressional campaign and a think tank focused on national security issues.  In Durham, he enjoys playing tennis and exploring new restaurants.
Director of Mentorship: Tessa Young

Tessa Young was born in Boston. She attended Wesleyan University where she studied Theater and East Asian Studies; her thesis focused on Balinese shadow puppets. She then moved to Philadelphia to build and design sets, but she ended conserving artwork, specializing in furniture and frames. After her 1L, Tessa worked at Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts. In her spare time, she enjoys woodworking and quilting along with her two cats.

Directors of Events: Emma Allison & Mikaela Shultz

Emma Allison is originally from Lilburn, GA and went to undergrad at Furman University. Emma spent her 1L summer at the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants. She came straight through from undergrad where she worked in elementary school classrooms. She takes running a little too seriously and will rarely turn down an opportunity to explore new restaurants and coffee shops.

Mikaela Schulz is from Buffalo, New York, and completed an English BA at SUNY Buffalo. Before coming to law school, she managed a restaurant and worked on political campaigns. During her 1L summer, she was a fellow at the Goldwater Institute. You can probably find her at a local coffeehouse, brewery, or listening to a podcast.

Directors of Outreach: Binx Saunders & Sydney Engle

 

 

 

 

Binx Saunders grew up in Charlottesville, VA. She graduated from the University of Virginia in 2017 with a degree in Political Philosophy, Policy, and Law. During her 1L summer, she interned for a federal judge in Richmond, and prior to law school, she worked at the Federal Trade Commission in DC. In her free time she enjoys hiking with her dog Whinnie (pictured) and checking out coffee shops and breweries around Durham.

Sydney Engle is from Lakeland, FL, and went to undergrad at the University of Florida. While at UF, she studied economics, spent a summer semester in Salzburg, Austria, and interned at a government relations firm in DC. Sydney interned at the U.S. Department of Justice during the summer after her 1L year. In her free time, she enjoys biking, trying local restaurants around Durham, and exploring nature trails.
