Co-President: Melana Dayanim

Melana is originally from Philadelphia, PA. After college, she led a campaign to win housing stipends for AmeriCorps members at her service site, Vermont Legal Aid. She then worked on local, state, and national political and issue-based campaigns. Melana studied Political Science at the University of Pittsburgh and spent her 1L summer as a Peggy Browning Fellow at the United Steelworkers, who organized her alma mater’s faculty.

Co-President: Allyson Barkley

Allyson is originally from Charlottesville, VA and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After college, she worked in refugee resettlement, state politics, and state government. She is a dual degree MPP/JD and spent her last two summers in the Durham Community Safety Department and in the NC DOJ Office of the Solicitor General. In her free time, she enjoys writing, reading, and hiking.

Professional Development Coordinator: Maggie Ash

Maggie Ash is from Canton, OH and graduated from The Ohio State University where she majored in English with minors in Business and Public Policy. She worked in state and local government in Ohio before law school and spent her 1L summer at the US House of Representatives Office of General Counsel. Maggie loves to read, run, and will always say yes to grabbing ice cream.

Community Projects Coordinator: Olivia Komanduri

Olivia Komanduri is originally from Las Vegas, Nevada and attended the University of Nevada, Reno. Prior to law school she worked as an organizer on various political campaigns across the country and later worked in political polling in Washington, DC. Olivia spent her 1L summer interning at the Orleans Public Defenders office and is pursuing a career as a public defender. She also loves trying out new cookbooks and walking through the Duke Gardens with her friends!

3L Representative: Caroline Tervo

Caroline Tervo is from Wilmington, North Carolina and went to undergrad at Harvard University. Caroline interned with the Southern Coalition for Social Justice voting rights team the summer after her 1L year and for the North Carolina Department of Justice in the Solicitor General and General Counsel Offices after her 2L year. Outside of law school, she is proud to be a part of the Durham YMCA community and tries very hard to keep her plants alive.
