Events

The club hosts a series of recruiting and educational events throughout the year. In the past events have included a Food Policy Seminar, guest speakers, recruitment events, internship roundtable panels and discussions. We borrow from the expertise both inside Fuqua and in our alumni network and are eager to collaborate with other clubs on campus. Here are a few sample events that the Food & Ag Club will typically host:

FoodCon

The biggest event of the year is FoodCon, a conference held in collaboration with UNC Keenan-Flagler and North Carolina State University dedicated to the business of food systems. Each year the conference is held at a different school and has a focus on a set of relevant topics. Duke will host the conference in the 2024-2025 academic year. The event brings together local and national businesses and it is a great opportunity to learn, connect and network.

Hands-on at the Duke Campus Farm!

Need a breath of fresh air? Come spend some time outside with us at your own Duke Campus Farm! We’ll be getting our hands dirty with some good old-fashioned farm chores–and see sustainable agriculture practices in practice. This is the kind of place where “eat local” begins.

Second Year Internship Panel

Hear from the food and agriculture industry Second Years who interned or worked there previously on tips and tricks to land yourself your perfect summer internship or full-time role! Ask questions about what they did, what they learned, and what they want to be when they grow up.

Select food and agriculture companies where Fuqua students have interned in the past: Cargill, Land O’Lakes, Walmart Merchandising, Kraft-Heinz, Pepsi, AB InBev, Conagra Brands, General Mills, Frito-Lay, The Hershey Company and Mars.

The Food Tech BBQ

It seems like every week there’s a new alternative protein product or milk substitute to try at the grocery store. We’ll save you some time and bring all the samples to you – whether you’re a seasoned vegan looking to add something new into the mix, or a conventional carnivore who’s skeptical how we’re going to feed the future. Join us for some sampling, voting, mingling and lots of fun!
