WELCOME PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS!
We are so excited you are interested in joining Team Fuqua! BBSA is a space for people who are determined to chart their own path, inspire those around them, and take action. No matter where you are in your application journey, BBSA would like to help you and provide some insight into life at Fuqua.
The Black Business Student Association’s Admissions Cabinet, led in 2026-2027 by VPs Mia Knight (mia.knight@duke.edu) and Dián Lewis (dian.lewis@duke.edu) is dedicated to offering guidance and support to prospective students on their application journeys. We are focused on assisting you in achieving your academic and professional aspirations, with the ultimate goal of positively influencing the next generation of students pursuing their MBAs at Fuqua.
We invite you to explore our vibrant community and discover the ways in which we can be a support system to you throughout this process.
What We Offer
Duke MBA Workshop: Fuqua’s MBA Workshop is hosted each year by the student members of Black Business Student Association (BBSA) and the American Latinx Management Association (ALMA). Since 1982, The Fuqua School of Business has hosted the MBA Workshop, designed to introduce talented MBA applicants to the Fuqua community and provide insight into the business school admissions process, post-MBA career planning, and graduate degree financing.
Over this three-day experience, prospective students have the opportunity to interact with students from BBSA and ALMA, connect with alumni, learn about #TeamFuqua and what it has to offer, and explore Durham.
Applications for the 2026 MBA workshop will be open soon. Please stay tuned for information about the 2026 program.
Networking Opportunities: We offer year-round coffee chats, both virtually and in-person, to connect you with current Fuqua students who can offer valuable insights and mentorship to enhance your application and future career prospects. Email bbsa@duke.edu to connect.
Application Reviews: Navigating the business school application process can be complex. Through our application review process, you’ll get matched with a first-year or second-year student at Fuqua who would be responsible for reviewing your application materials. This support is to help you refine your resumes and essays, ensuring that they are compelling and representative of your unique experiences, all to increase your chances of admissions success.
Interview Preparation: The interview phase is where you can truly shine. We offer mock interviews and coaching to help you confidently convey your strengths and qualifications to admissions committees. Admissions fellows who are interviewers cannot help with your interview preparation.
Prospective students can sign up for application reviews and mock interviews here.
