The student application form is available here! Applications are due  Sunday, February 15th, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST. Please send your recommender the 2026 Teacher Recommendation Instructions which provides instructions for submitting their letter.

Teachers, please submit the recommendation letters here. Recommendations are due Friday, February 20th, 2026.

Application Instructions:

For an application to be considered complete, the following items must be submitted by the application deadline:

  • Essays 1 and 2 below (1 PDF each)
  • The DukeREP 2026 online student application
  • One teacher recommendation submitted by the recommender

We strongly advise that you obtain your recommendation from your current or former Science or Math teacher. It is the applicant’s responsibility to make their recommender aware of the instructions and ensure that the letter is submitted by the deadline. 

Before you begin your online student application, please be sure to have the following items ready:

  • Unofficial high school transcript (PDF)
  • Email address and phone number of your teacher recommender
  • Essays 1 and 2 below (1 PDF each)
    • Essay Prompts:
      1. Look into the research happening in the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at Duke ( https://bme.duke.edu/research) and tell us about a lab or area of research that excites you. Maximum 500 words.
      2. How have your lived experiences—whether related to your upbringing, culture, or challenges—shaped your education, your interest in STEM, and your goals? How can attending DukeREP help you achieve your goals? Maximum 750 words.
