Application Instructions:
For an application to be considered complete, the following items must be submitted by the application deadline:
- The DukeREP 2024 online student application (February 11th)
- One teacher recommendation submitted by the recommender (February 16th)
We strongly advise that you obtain your recommendation from your current or former Science or Math teacher. Please send your recommender this document which provides instructions for submitting their letter. It is the applicant’s responsibility to make their recommender aware of the instructions and ensure that the letter is submitted by the deadline.
Before you begin your online student application, please be sure to have the following items ready:
- Unofficial high school transcript (PDF)
- Email address and phone number of your teacher recommender
- Essays 1 and 2 below (1 PDF each)
- The optional essay below, if you choose to submit it (PDF)
Essay prompts:
- Look into the research happening in the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at Duke (https://bme.duke.edu/research) and tell us about a lab or area of research that excites you. Maximum 500 words.
- How do you want to make a difference in this world? How will attending DukeRep help you make a difference in the world either now or in the future? Maximum 500 words.
- Optional: Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story. Maximum 500 words. [Taken from the 2019 Common App].
