Bivalent Pfizer Booster is in

We have received the Bivalent Pfizer Booster at DHND/DOC!
Patients are eligible to receive the bivalent booster 2 months after completing their initial series of a monovalent vaccine (2 doses for non-immunocompromised patients, and 3 doses for immunocompromised patients).
Helpful information:
  • Bivalent is not approved to be given as an initial series, only as a booster.
  • We still have the initial series (monovalent) Pfizer vaccines stocked at DHND for patients needing their initial doses.
  • Bivalent is to be administered the same as the monovalent vaccine. Dosage: 0.3mLs, Route: intramuscular, and observation for 15 minutes after administration.
  • Discard multi dose vials 12 hours after first puncture
  • Multi dose vial contains 6 doses

The vials for the monovalent and the bivalent look very similar, please double check before drawing up vaccines. The bivalent boxes have been marked with purple tape and a red alert sticker that says, “look alike, sound alike”.
