COVID-19 update: for professors transitioning to remote instruction, we recommend Aimi Hamraie’s thorough resource, Accessible Teaching in the Time of Covid-19.

The Duke Accessible Syllabus Project is here to help teachers conceptualize their course materials and pedagogical practices to be more inclusive. We, as a small team of students, graduate students, and faculty at Duke University, have too often observed students being met with suspicion when seeking accommodations for their disabilities and unique learning needs. We hope the guidelines on this site can serve as a starting point, not only to accommodate particular student needs, but to conceive of those needs more broadly before we even meet our students. Inclusive pedagogy improves the learning experience for everyone. Welcome!
