Lüchuang 綠窗 [green window]

While lüchuang can be used to refer to a poor girl’s bedroom as opposed to honglou 紅樓 [red tower], it can also refer to any unmarried women’s bedroom, aka boudoir, in the premodern Chinese context. This word often appears in poems and lyrics when tons of beautiful metaphor was used. Later in the text, unmarried women’s boudoir are also referred to as xiuhu 繡戶 [the embroidery room].
