Duke LLM Infrastructure
Building out custom chat assistants to be used by the Duke community. Researching preferences and performance of AI in higher ed through user feedback.
Improving student and teacher experiences with LLMs
In this new age of AI, is it no secret that many students use ChatGPT in some form for studying. There are many questions circulating about whether this is beneficial for learning along with if there are other LLM options more suited for higher education.
Our goal for DukeChat is to provide equal, customizable access to chat assistants for students while researching their uses and preferences.
Equal Access to Resources
There is concern about providing fair, safe use of AI in education. With this chat assistant infrastructure, all students will have equal, controlled access to cutting-edge AI technology.
Human Feedback
Nothing evaluates LLMs better than humans. Through this project we are gathering feedback from each user and will be able to determine user preferences to various responses.
Customizability
Faculty can request access to a custom assistant for their students to use. These assistants will pull information from their resources and be curated to respond however the professor specifies.
