Intelligent Course Search & Recommendation System

CREATE is working with the Duke University Registrar to develop an intelligent system for identifying courses matching a student's career or personal interests and providing personalized course recommendations, helping students better navigate the course options across Duke to more easily identify courses that align with career ambitions or personal interests.

Learn to Code Assistant

Coding AI assistants available today are designed around professional programmers rather than learners, and bypass the learning process by directly providing the answers to programming problems.  We are building Qubit, an AI assistant to be used in introductory programming courses which will help students work through the steps to arrive at the right answer, rather than skipping right to the answer.

Language Models for Education

As Duke and other universities move towards providing students with access to LLMs, it raises important questions on how to most effectively integrate these assistants for academic use cases, and what preferences students have using them.  CREATE is building infrastructure to provide custom assistants to faculty and students while collecting direct human feedback on each response.

Duke’s CREATE Center Joins the AI Revolution in Education

In a world where AI technology has generated both excitement and apprehension, Duke University stands at the forefront of innovation. Duke’s Pratt School of Engineering and Duke Learning Innovation have joined forces to establish the Center for Research & Engineering of AI Technology in Education (CREATE).
