The Chidley Lab in the Department of Pharmacology and Cancer Biology studies how transporter proteins move nutrients, metabolites, and vitamin-derived cofactors across membranes. We mainly use unbiased CRISPR-based genetic screening together with cell biology, biochemistry, and analytical chemistry to discover and characterize transporters across diverse metabolic environments. Our work aims to uncover how the tumor microenvironment shapes nutrient use and reveal fundamental principles of transporter biology relevant to cancer and beyond.

We are recruiting at many levels. Please reach out to christopher.chidley(@)duke.edu to discuss opportunities:
We host graduate students enrolled in Duke-affiliated programs. Please email to set up a meeting to discuss potential rotation projects. We offer diverse projects across the fields of cancer biology, pharmacology, and transporter biology. Projects are primarily hypotheses-driven questions, unbiased genetic screening, or method development.
Please reach out by email with (i) a cover letter discussing specifically why our lab would be a good fit for your scientific and career goals, (ii) your CV, (iii) the name and contact information of 3 references.
Please express your interest by email, and include a copy of your CV. We are interested in post-bac research technicians willing to spend 2 years in the lab.
