The Cancer Health Disparities SPORE research projects are supported by three shared resources: the Administrative Core, the Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Core, and the Biospecimen/Pathology Core.

Administrative Core

Leader: Steve Patierno, PhD

 

The Administrative Core is responsible for organizing and supporting two full translational research projects, two cores, the Developmental Research Program, and a Career Enhancement Program, as the forerunner of our future P50 CEP. In addition, the Core is responsible for transition planning for this DCHD P20 to compete for a full P50 SPORE grant.

Biostatistics and Bioinformatics

The Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Core serves as an essential central resource to provide quantitative and computational expertise in support of the basic, translational and clinical cancer research needs of the P20 projects.

Biospecimen/Pathology

Leader: Shannon McCall, MD

 

The Biospecimen/Pathology Core of the Duke Cancer Health Disparities P20 Program (DCHD) leverages and is housed in the Duke Cancer Institute’s BioRepository & Precision Pathology Center (BRPC). The Core will efficiently provide high-quality tissue, blood and fluid-based biospecimens and processing services to requesting investigators, and continue to adjust practices as researcher needs evolve.
