The first day of the program, I spent 15 minutes trying to find my lab; I didn’t know anybody in it; I didn’t know how cool CRISPR/Cas9 was; I didn’t know how to deal with RNA; I didn’t know about the future direction that I should take. But now I know exactly where my lab is; I know how supportive and helpful my lab environment is; I know more about what a scientific career is like; I found out what my passion is; I have a clearer idea of my future; and I know how much fun a scientific career can give me. I really want to thank my mentors Ami and Pratiksha. I couldn’t possibly have finished the work without their help. They are so good at explaining concepts and are also so patient with me. And I also want to thank Dr. Gersbach for providing me with this opportunity. Lastly I want to thank the HHRF program. This is really an amazing program that has benefitted me so much in so many ways. I’ve decided to stay in my lab and continue my work. I will take the energy and enthusiasm of this summer with me and continue the journey of a scientific career.
