Before this week, I was aware that Duke was a prominent research institution. However, the chalk talks I’ve listened to this week have left me astounded by the vast array of research areas present here. Among the talks, Kennedy’s presentation stood out to me as super interesting!
I really liked how Kennedy broke down her complex research project into something digestable for me to understand. I also appreciated how animated she was throughout her talk, especially when she took the time to demonstrate the different gaits. By doing so, she made her talk even more captivating! I’ve definitely learned some presentation skills from her that I will keep in mind for the future.
Kennedy’s research project is focused on animal locomotion. I found it really unique and thought-provoking how she is drawing connections between the evolutionary development of movement and therapeutic research for pelvic injuries in medicine! The seamless fusion of these two disparate fields left me pondering the profound implications and potential breakthroughs that lie ahead. I also liked the methodology she is using to conduct her research. Using Opencap to capture the movements of diverse individuals and animals seems like a really fun and interactive proccess.
Thank you Kennedy for sharing your work! It’s only inspired me to delve even deeper into science and all the amazing ideas it has to offer.
Great review. It’s great that you were able to think of the trajectory of the work that is being done in that lab. That is exciting!
