Welcome

Presented by the Lester Crown University Professorship in Ethics, in collaboration with the
Trent Center for Bioethics, Humanities & History of Medicine

A distinguished team of researchers from the Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics in Oxford visits Duke to explore related themes at the intersection of the ethical evaluation of medical interventions, the role of medicine in society, and the value of individuals in society. This two day workshop is the second leg of a ‘home and away’ workshop exchange.

The workshop is free and open to faculty, students, and the public. You are invited to attend all or some of the sessions. Registration is not required. Noontime talks include lunch. The workshop will take place at the Great Hall, Trent Semans Center for Health Education at Duke University Medical Center. The Great Hall is on the lower level of the Trent Semans Center.

Free parking is available in the Research Drive Garage off Erwin Road. Use the Research Drive entrance and tell the attendant you are there for the Duke-Oxford Workshop. From the garage, the Trent Semans Center is a short walk down Research Drive. Pass the roundabout and turn left at the Trent Semans Center sign.  Bear left to follow the road down to the circle beside the Trent Semans Center. The Great Hall is just inside the entrance.
