Issue 12: December 2021

Almost one billion people, or 15% of the world’s population, experience some form of disability. Though some are more visible than others, these conditions can impact every aspect of people’s lives. They vary greatly in their effects, and despite their prevalence, there is often stigma surrounding disabilities and their representation. In honor of the United Nations’ International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3rd, the Global Health Newsletter has dedicated this issue to exploring the impacts, stigma, and representation of disabilities.
