Muse Co-President/Co-Editor-in-Chief Sophia Berg (she/her) is a senior from Gilbert, Arizona studying English literature, Latin, and Medieval & Renaissance Studies (on the pre-law track!) In addition to editing for a number of journals around campus, Sophia also loves playing the bass clarinet, debating legal theory, and studying rhetorical techniques!

Vice President Kristina Kugaevskaya (she/her) is a junior from Los Angeles, California, studying Economics and Creative Writing. The only thing she loves more than reading a good fantasy book is stargazing in the gardens. One day she hopes to be a published author.

On campus, you’re likely to find her exploring some part of Duke Gardens or with the Duke Club Rowing Team—in case of an emergency, you’ll find her there.

Outreach Chair Maylah Marcus (she/her) is a sophomore from Columbus, OH, and her writing aims to make you think about something from a different perspective. If she could make a major called “Everything”, she would. (But since she can’t, she’ll stick to psychology, German, and physics.) In her free time, you’ll find her getting a sweet treat with friends, recording episodes for her podcast, and watching The Office.

Hi! My name is Ella Tallett (she/her), and I am a senior from Cedar Rapids, IA majoring in Neuroscience. The Muse has been a great outlet for me to explore myself and my perspectives on feminism & womanhood. Outside of the Muse, I am involved in Duke Club Running and am a barista at Bella Union, where I enjoy drinking coffee and listening to music. Please stop in and say hi!

Emrys Lindsey: I am a sophomore majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Duke class of 2028. I love animals and outer space, as well as reading for hours on end!

Managing Editor Olivia Ess (she/her) is a sophomore from rural North Carolina, navigating her new life at Duke one Coca-Cola at a time. When she’s not editing or writing for The Muse, you can find her journaling in Duke’s gardens, or lost in a good novel—preferably an old classic. A dedicated thrifter, she’s on a constant quest for vintage treasures and the next great story.

When she’s not writing, you can find her painting, reading romance novels, watching reality TV, going on long walks, or trying new restaurants (she needs recs)! She’s so happy to be a part of the Muse community and looks forward to seeing our future magazine editions!

Sarah Campbell Brown (she/her) is a sophomore from Columbia, SC. Her interests in fashion focus on the psychology behind consumer behavior, how geopolitics impact the way we dress, and sharing content and styling tips that are accessible and achievable for Gen-Z buyers. When she’s not on a Pinterest scroll, you’re likely to spot her sitting in Saladelia drinking a seasonal latte with a ribbon in her hair, and using or wearing something floral print.

Jeslyn Cai (she/her) is a junior from Spokane, Washington, planning to study Public Policy and International Comparative Studies. She loves playing the piano, watching movies, and going on beautiful hikes!

Cara Eaton (she/her) is a junior from Westerly, RI. She is majoring in Philosophy and loves writing of all kinds, especially screenwriting. She also spends ample time navigating the worlds of literature, dance, film, and (unfortunately) Canvas.

Emily Cui (she/her) is a freshman from Vancouver, Canada hoping to major in Political Science and Public Policy on the pre-law track. Although she’s a self-proclaimed book enthusiast, her dead Goodreads account suggests otherwise. When she’s not busy writing angsty poetry or binging fanfiction, you can find her singing, thrifting, or catching up on sleep during her weekly naps.
