Jeff Bezos married MacKenzie Scott on September 4, 1993. They raised four kids and were together for over 25 years until their split on January 9, 2019. That same day, rumors started circling of Bezos having had an affair with Fox 11 news anchor, Lauren Sanchez. The media, and especially tabloids, took a particular interest in this story, with them digging up old images and finding out that Bezos and Sanchez had been seen together on multiple occasions dating back to the summer of the previous year. This story was later confirmed, and in July of 2019, Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos made their first public appearance together.

At the time of their affair, Sanchez was also married to her then-husband, Patrick Whitesell. They filed for divorce shortly after the story about Bezos and Sanchez leaked. For a long time, there was a great deal of controversy over who tipped the news off on their affair. Bezos and news sources accused Lauren Sanchez’s brother, Michael, of doing so. Michael Sanchez even sued Bezos for defamation at the time, yet the Wall Street Journal was recently able to confirm that he did, in fact, leak it.

After their split, MacKenzie Scott started dating teacher Dan Jewett, with the pair getting married in 2021. Scott received over thirty billion dollars worth of Amazon shares in their divorce settlement, making her one of the richest women on the planet.
