Prof. Marat Khafizov is an associate professor in the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering and Nuclear Engineering program at The Ohio State University. He directs Thermal properties of Materials for Extreme environments (TME) laboratory. Dr. Khafizov is Phonon Transport Thrust lead for the Center for Thermal Energy Transport under Irradiation, an Energy Frontiers Research Center funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Basic Energy Sciences. His research interests are in investigating the impact of radiation damage on properties of materials, development of experimental methods and sensors for measuring material’s physical properties in extreme environments. Dr. Khafizov holds Ph. D. degree in Physics from University of Rochester. Prior to joining OSU, he was a research scientist at Idaho National Laboratory.

Ideliya Khismatova is an analyst in Network Planning at United Airlines, where she works on creating their Pacific route network. Ideliya recently graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with degrees in Statistics and Analytics and Environmental Science. With these degrees, she plans on combining sustainability with aviation to make the airline industry more eco-friendly.
Ramilya Saubanova – Tatar professional musician Dr. Ramilya Saubanova, with profound sensitivity and passion, began her musical journey in Nizhnekamsk, Russia, embracing piano keys at the age of eight. A laureate of international competitions, she won the Grand–Prix at the 2021 World Vision Music International Competition and received scholarships, including the Presidential scholarship of Tatarstan. She earned her Specialist degree (2018) from the Kazan State Conservatory named after N. Zhiganov, Master’s (2020) and Doctor of Musical Arts (2023) degrees from the Peabody Conservatory, Johns Hopkins University. Elected to Pi Kappa Lambda Society in 2020, her musical excellence includes captivating performances worldwide: Russia, France, Switzerland, the USA, and her beloved homeland of Tatarstan. Beyond music, she finds solace in family time, nature and the enchanting world of literature.
Gani Nurmukhametov is currently a Ph.D. candidate in economics at the University of Washington (expected to graduate in 2023). Prior to UW, he earned his Master of Science in Applied Economics from St. Cloud State University in 2015 and a Bachelor’s degree equivalent in International Relations from Kazan State University in Russia in 2007. Gani’s research focuses on macroeconomics, international economics, and economic growth. His job market paper examines the impact of remittances on economic growth through human capital accumulation in developing economies. He also has published work studying fiscal policy effectiveness in Egypt under different debt regimes. In addition to his PhD studies, Gani has extensive teaching experience as a graduate teaching assistant and instructor at UW since 2015, serving in roles in the Foster School of Business, Economics Department, and Statistics Department. He has taught classes spanning introductory statistics, macroeconomics, microeconomics, operations management, and more, at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Proficient in a variety of software and programming languages, Gani also has professional experience in research and economic analysis roles in Russia prior to arriving at UW, including for Kazan State University’s Center for Advanced Economic Research and the Special Economic Industrial Zone Alabuga development project.

Recently, his EB-1A petition as an extraordinary individual has been approved, and he got the LPR status in the United States of America.
