British-American Tobacco Company (BAT Co.) was established in 1902, J.B. Duke as the first chairman. It was an joint venture by Imperial Tobacco Company and American Tobacco Company (ATC). After the dissolution of ATC in 1911, J.B. Duke spared more efforts in the BAT, until his retirement in 1923. BAT was one of the first transnational corporation, operating and selling its products in dozens of countries across the globe.
