As described by the national SPS’s website, “The Society of Physics Students (SPS) is a professional association explicitly designed for students and their advisers. Membership, through collegiate chapters, is open to anyone interested in physics.” At Duke, SPS is truly a diverse and ever-changing group with students from different majors, colleges, and academic backgrounds. Duke SPS aims to provide streamlined resources, information, and guidance for its members including internship and grad school info sessions, mentor programs with Duke grad students and upperclassmen, research seminars with Duke professors, and so much more. We also hope to make a way for physics-interested students to find their physics community on campus with internal social events (game nights, movie nights, etc.) as well as social events with other universities’ SPS chapters.
