Lucy Burnett

Faculty Remarks:

I first met Lucy Burnett in the spring of 2018 when she was enrolled in my course on Bob Dylan.  This was a seminar and I relished the opportunity to get to know Lucy by virtue of her contributions to our discussions.   A sophomore at the time, she seemed unbothered by the fact that the class was almost completely composed of graduating seniors.  In fact, from the first week on, she remained one of the most engaged and attuned students.  She was then enrolled in another literature course with me a year later and, once again, made a striking impression.  She has this amazingly wry way of representing her critical imagination.  She has this uncanny ability to make intellectual work look and feel fun, funny and sustaining.  There’s something about Lucy that makes me think that she’s been here before, that this isn’t her first time around the cosmic block.  She is an unusually adept and attuned being, the likes of I am sure I won’t meet again for some time come.  Congratulations Lucy!
