Your memorable experiences in English: One of my favorite aspects of being a part of the English Department has been the consistently small classroom environments in which I’ve been able to personally get to know both my classmates and my professors. Seeing the same friends in many classes throughout my English career has allowed me to befriend almost all of the other English seniors, which is so unique compared to other departments at Duke. Being able to learn my classmates’ backgrounds and interests has allowed us all to make friendships that run much deeper than the classroom, and has helped to establish lasting connections that will surpass our departure of Duke’s campus.
Farewell wishes for your classmates: I hope each and every one of my fellow English seniors is as grateful as I am to have been a part of such a special department and I wish you all the best in your future endeavors!
Plans for the future: I’ll be attending the University of North Carolina School of Law in the fall!
Faculty Remarks:
Dear Ellenor,
It was such a pleasure having you in our James Joyce seminar, and I appreciated the way your comments and papers always tied the emotion of the novel to matters of style and form. You have an eye for character psychology and relationships, and I think youunderstand Joycean pathos in truly sophisticated ways! I know you were considering law schools –whichever one you choose will be lucky to have you!
Warmest wishes and do keep in touch,
Aarthi (Prof. Vadde)
