Duncan de Caire (in mourning, here for California)

Here is a brief excerpt from the writing that Duncan did in one of my creative writing classes.  I will remember him always!

“But now the sky is grey most days, and so is the land.  The river is brown, and the poppies bloom a mottled yellow before dying in the heat.  Mr. Sullivan is dead, and they’ve paved over most of that old school anyways.  Trees from the 60s who’s shade we rested under gave way to concrete and drought-resistant plants.  The sun beats down on the pavement while children stay inside, kept there by air pollution warnings.”
