Our research in sustainability focuses on assessing the environmental sustainability status of our built environment and the technological solutions for sustainable transitions, particularly for water systems, waste systems, and industrial systems.
Current research areas:
- Circular economy: Assessing the environmental sustainability of different resource recovery technologies (such as biopolymer, energy, and nutrients) from wastewater and other waste streams
- Low-carbon future: Analyzing the carbon footprints of water systems and industrial systems, and evaluating the environmental co-benefits and trade-offs for different decarbonizing pathways.
- Environmental data science and systems analysis: Enhancing the gathering, processing, and application of environmental-related data for improved environmental sustainability assessments and systems analysis of sustainable systems.
