The Remy Neuro Lab (supervised by Dr. Pedro Rada-Rincon) focused on sugar addiction, the brain’s reward system, and novel psychedelics in the native fungus Lanmaoa asiatica. We are interested in how sugar binging, especially on an intermittent schedule similar to drug use, could lead to cravings and addiction-like behaviors in rodent models, and the physiological and molecular mechanisms underlying these changes. Currently, we’re investigating how randomized schedule of intermittent sugar binging change sugar addiction behavior, and the exact neurotransmitter change in this process.
