  1. This seems like it was such a great experience, as a queer person from Durham I am amazed that I have not heard of the Pauli Murray Center.
I commend you on your efforts this summer to learn about Pauli Murray through all of the reading you completed and your plan to use your experience to better understand the inner-workings of nonprofit organizations.
I’m curious about how this experience has influenced your plans for the future, do you see nonprofit work in your future?

  2. The Pauli Murray Center is sort of a hidden gem here in Durham. I’m very impressed by the fact that you not only chose to work at the center, but you also immersed yourself into the Rev. Dr. Murray’s life and story. It’s very clear that you were passionate about the work you did and you made the most of your summer. I’m interested to hear more about how you were able to incorporate your skills into your work here. What was it like working on newsletter publications and social media campaigns for such a historic center?

  3. What a wonderful experience Margot. I’m very delighted to hear about your time working at the Pauli Murray Center. Do you see yourself continuing to pursue nonprofit work? Did you run into any unique personal or work-related challenges?

  4. This is an amazing experience Margot! Given how difficult it was to connect with people during remote internships, it sounds like you found a great opportunity to engage with an amazing organization and person while also serving the city of Durham. There are so many issues and areas that the center works on that are really relevant and important today. I’m curious during your time there, if you saw the center adapting to the changing circumstances in the country and interacting with protests, movements, and the community?

  5. Hi Margot, amazing work! I’m curious to learn more about the structure and history of nonprofits that you mentioned. Having worked with nonprofits in the past, I know that how they function can be very different from what one might expect from the outside. What was something surprising or enlightening you learned that you didn’t know before about nonprofits?

  6. Song in a Weary Throat is such a good read ! Appreciate the advocacy for the rainbow nation, thank you for sharing Margot!
