Gustavo Sosa Macias is a senior chemistry major who conducted research in the Payne Lab at Duke University. The Payne Lab works on understanding the underlying molecular mechanisms by which cells interact with materials and then use this information to control cellular properties. Gustavo specifically worked on characterizing and quantifying the absorption of proteins onto the surface of nanoparticles while also developing a machine learning algorithm to predict protein-nanoparticle binding.
