Paxtyn Lawson worked under Dr. James White of the DMPI this summer examining the effects of caloric restriction on the aging process in mice. She studied how caloric restriction impacts liver-derived secreted factors, muscle stem cell and FAP production, and injury regeneration.

This is a super interesting research project that you’ve done! I find it to be amazing that the calorie restricted diet can have such a large impact of quality of health and longevity of life. Do you know of any further plans to investigate the relationship between these? Moreover, are there any long term ideas on how to apply this data to humans as well.
This is really cool! This is not something I would think to study, but is in fact very important! I hope your future research is interesting and supports your conclusions.
Hey Paxton!! This research project is super interesting and definitely not something that would’ve crossed my mind to pursue. How did you decide on this idea for your research and what led you to this general field? Also, have you found any connection between calorie-restriction and increased longevity in mice, and calorie-restriction and increased longevity in humans? Is there a point at which the amount of caloric-restriction would become harmful, or a point at which if calories were restricted below amount “x” we would see a decrease in life longevity independent of adequate nutrients?
Paxtyn** I’m sorry for my silly mistake… again, awesome poster !!!
