Elizabeth Loschiavo is a member of the Alice M. Baldwin Scholars Class of 2022. This summer, she completed a three-month remote internship at TikTok while based in New York City, where she taught top brands how to identify and leverage viral trends as part of their marketing strategies. Next year, she will be returning to TikTok full-time and hopes to continue blending her interests in advertising and advocacy to make TikTok a more equitable and joyful place for all. What a great way to spend your summer! This opportunity sounds like it was both fun, challenging, and informative! I looked at the linked website and you are for sure qualified for the position, which I loved that you noted on your takeaways! I also love that you point out how people find it hard to relate to numbers and find stories more appealing. Creativity is important in any job! Great point!
I hope you enjoy working full-time at Tik Tok and I wish you the best with all your future career endeavors!
This is so cool! Sounds very fun and engaging! I love that TikTok has reached a level of global attention that companies have started to use it as a marketing strategy. I have seen many brands use TikTok to advertise, and it is so cool to know you were able to be a part of that in NYC. Good luck at TikTok next year!
This is so interesting! Congratulations on such a successful internship experience! I was wondering what you think about the future of marketing as whole. Do you think social media platforms, such as TikTok, will soon be the only effective way to really grow a business? If so, what could be the implications of this in the future?
This seems like such a fun internship to have been a part of! I’ve seen so many brands using TikTok to advertise and engage with consumers, but I hadn’t considered the behind-the-scenes work that went into getting these brands on the app. Considering how widespread TikTok’s influence has become in recent years, it’s very impressive and exciting that you were able to take advantage of such a great opportunity. I also think that designing your own weekly newsletter is a fun and effective way of updating your colleagues on recent trends and data; is this newsletter something that has remained in use post-internship?
This sounds like a very rewarding summer experience! As a TikTok user myself, I find trend analysis to be very exciting as there is no telling what will be viral as most trends are unique and different. Taking advantage of these trends and TikTok as a general platform seems to be extremely successful for both large and small businesses. In this day and age, having a social media presence is important for targeting the younger generation. Although TikTok is built on its unique reel medium and is extremely addictive, is there a team at TikTok to reduce unhealthy addiction of TikTok?
