Thuan Tran is currently a junior studying Political Science with an emphasis on political economy at Duke University. This summer he was able to conduct ethnographic research within the Asian/American community in the RTP area regarding institutional barriers. Coming from homogenous Hanoi and not used to seeing widespread anti-Asian sentiment, he was interested in finding out the root causes of this sentiment, especially in the community with which he is currently living. In the future, Thuan hopes to go into the international development sphere, where he will have to seek structural solutions to development problems in developing nations.
