Tina Machado is a junior studying Electrical Computer engineering with a minor in math and a certificate in energy and the environment. She is passionate about green energy and infrastructure and hopes to continue with this passion in the future. This summer, she worked at an organization located in Nicholtown, South Carolina, Sustaining Way. At Sustaining Way, she served as the energy intern and was the project manager for multiple projects.

  1. Tina, this is such a cool summer experience—thank you for sharing! I’m intrigued by the Energy Home Visit program and how you helped lead it during the pandemic. Did that program transition into a virtual one, or did you just work on building up the program behind-the-scenes until it can be relaunched in-person? Curious if you made any big changes and whether renewable energy (e.g. rooftop solar) options factor into each consultation. Thanks again!

  2. Hi Tina- I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a program like this with an interfaith focus before, and I think that’s so cool! I also think it’s great that it helped you discover that project management/coordination isn’t exactly for you, but still gave you translatable leadership experience for the future. I am curious on the details about the Home Visit Program- were you there in person and in homes, or were you coordinating with others? If you were working with individuals and their homes, what were the kinds of recommendations that the program focused on?
