NRFI Students

Emerging leaders in natural resources finance, policy, and conservation.

Building the Next Generation of Sustainable Finance Professionals

Students in the Natural Resources Finance Initiative (NRFI) work at the intersection of finance, environment, and policy. Drawn from the Master of Forestry (MF), Master of Environmental Management (MEM), and PhD programs at Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment, they are developing the analytical and leadership skills needed to manage, invest in, and protect the world’s natural resources.

Through applied coursework, research, and internships, NRFI students explore how financial tools and market mechanisms can promote sustainability and resilience in natural resource systems. Many participate in the NRFI Track, which prepares them for careers spanning conservation finance, ecosystem valuation, and responsible investment.
