Guidelines

NRFI’s work is guided by collaboration, innovation, and a shared responsibility for sustainable resource management.

Principles That Guide Our Work

NRFI’s efforts are grounded in both academic excellence and real-world engagement.

We follow these guiding principles:

  • Serve all stakeholders who own, invest in, manage, or conserve natural resources.

  • Expects challenges when exploring the multifaceted aspects of resource use and sustainability.

  • Communicate openly with stakeholders through research publications, outreach, and professional engagement.

  • Collaborate across Duke University, including with the Nicholas School of the Environment, the Duke Financial Economics Center, the Fuqua School of Business, and the Sanford School of Public Policy.

  • Connect with industry and conservation organizations to create internship opportunities, foster applied research, and develop Master’s Projects that prepare students for real-world leadership.

These guidelines reflect NRFI’s dedication to building a responsible, informed, and forward-thinking community of scholars and practitioners — working together to finance a more sustainable world.
