The Natural Resources Finance Initiative (NRFI) at Duke University was established in 2018 to provide national and global leadership in education, research, and service related to renewable natural resource industries and conservation organizations.
Our purpose is to equip the next generation of environmental leaders with the financial acumen and strategic insight needed to advance sustainable management of forests, water, fisheries, and other critical resources.
Through rigorous research, applied learning, and interdisciplinary collaboration, NRFI bridges the gap between ecological sustainability and financial innovation. We believe that integrating business principles with environmental stewardship is essential for achieving long-term conservation outcomes and building resilient economies.
