The Natural Resources Finance Initiative (NRFI) conducts applied research that bridges environmental science, finance, and policy to create real-world solutions for sustainable resource management.

Led by Professor Richard Bin Mei, NRFI’s research explores how financial mechanisms can support conservation goals, reduce climate risks, and strengthen the economic resilience of natural resource industries. Through collaboration among faculty, PhD researchers, and professional students, NRFI generates insights that influence practice and policy in forestry, carbon markets, and ecosystem valuation.
